Reception at M House for Phi Beta Kappa Teaching Excellence Award for Cathy Middlecamp October 10, 2009 Reception at M House! Monday, November 2 from 4-5 pm. Refreshments will be served, and Psychology Professor Jenny Saffran will make the presentation for the 2009 Phi Beta Kappa Recognition for Excellence in Teaching Award.  Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest academic honor society in the U.S. and advocates excellence in the humanities, social sciences, and the natural sciences.  Several ILS faculty members, including Cathy and Booth Fowler, were elected members as undergraduates. Joe Elder Receives WNPJ Lifetime Achievement Award October 3. 2009 To recognize his contributions to peacemaking, the Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice (WNPJ) gave Joe Elder the Lifetime Achievement Award at a gathering in Madison on Saturday, October 3rd.  This occasion recognized the important contributions that Joe has made to peacemaking. Meiklejohn House Remodeled June 25, 2009 Stop by M House, if you are in the neighborhood. It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do to lift everybody's spirits. The rugs on the living room floor have been taken up and the floors sanded.  To top it off, we have a new LCD projector installed in the ceiling, so that come September, we will be ready to roll with instruction, evening seminars, and films.  We have many to thank for the renovations.  Our students for their willingness to clean and help move furniture, our faculty for their donations of time and money, our alumni for gifts to the ILS Program, and the good folks in the College of Letters and Science also provided funds.
