Michelle Solberg
Michelle Solberg is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Theatre and Drama with a specialization in Theatre for Youth and a minor in East Asian Studies. Michelle grew up in Wisconsin before getting her BA in Theatre and Asian Studies from St. Olaf College. After graduation, she left for Japan, where she lived and taught high school English and oral communication in the Tokyo area for several years. She earned an MA in Theatre Research from UW-Madison in 2006. Her dissertation, Youth in Crisis: The New Democracy and Theatre for Young Audiences in Postwar Japan, explores the impact of democracy, global politics, and grassroots movements on the youth theatre movement in early postwar Japan. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, running, playing softball, and karaoke.
This spring, Michelle is one of the TA for ILS 200.
